Laws have not been put in place to bother us or to curb our lives, they have been put in place to keep us all safe and it is important that they are respected. There is nothing romantic or rebellious about breaking the law and despite what you may think, you are not above the law and the content of you actions could see you receive firm and fair punishment. I speak regularly with my friend Jon Bunge Chicago-resident and attorney at law, about the amount of people who fall into deep trouble when they break the law. If you are in any doubt as to how important it is to stay inside the confines of the law, here are just some of the reasons why you should.
Jail Time
Jail time is a very real possibility for many crimes and regardless of the fact that you may lead a law-abiding lifestyle, one mistake could see you behind bars. Jail time is horrible, you are taken away from your friends and family, you will have almost no control over your life and you will be stigmatized forever. When you are inside the prison, someone tells you when to eat, when to wash, when to exercise and when to relax, not to mention the dangers that could exist inside. Abide by the law and stay out of jail.
Personal Impacts
I you break the law and end up having to serve a sentence or complete community service, it can have a great impact on your personal life. It is not uncommon for people to lose their jobs as a result of their unlawfulness or even lose their partner or have the opinion of the family changed. What you may see as a minor misdemeanor could have grave impacts on your personal life.
Small Law, Big Consequences
Many people think that some laws can be broken a little bit because no harm will come. Let’s take speeding for example, you may think that driving at 110 kmph may not be much worse than driving at 100 but that difference of 10 kmph could be the difference between injuring someone in an accident and killing them. As aforementioned, laws are there to protect people and if you don’t respect them, regardless of whether or not you agree with them, you could end up with massive consequences.
Financial Problems
If you break the law and you are forced to go to court then you could be looking at shelling out a massive amount of money. Equally you may be forced to pay a fine as a result of you law breaking which could also heap pressure on your financial situation. In order to protect your money and avoid falling into financial difficulties, respect the law and avoid breaking it.
Many people think that they can get away with breaking the law but there is always a chance that you could get caught and the repercussions could be terrifying, don’t risk it, stay safe and live within the rules of the law.
