My First Author Signing! by Christina
Around 5:00, we went to our vehicles to get our books. When we came back in, we sat in the meet and greet room and talked for about 20 minutes. The authors came in and Kristi gave them little goody bags. I began to ask them the questions I had written out. Earlier that week my mom had painted “Fierce Read” on my nails and I was so nervous when they took the picture of them, my hands were shaking. ☺ I got through the questions just in time because after that they were going to go to the signing. They headed out for the signing and before the actual signing they showed the book trailers, which of course I had already seen. I’d probably get in a lot trouble for saying and doing this, but I watched the book trailer for Struck by Jennifer Bosworth before I read the book, so…I sort of spoiled the book for myself. The trailers were fabulously made. After each trailer, the authors would say what inspired them to write their books. They also told what the books were about for those of the fans who hadn’t read them yet. Then they had some of the audience members asked them questions and I swear I tell everyone I come across about this, but someone asked about their writers block, and well, Anna Banks, being as funny as she is, said “I don’t think of it as ‘writer’s block’. I like to think of it as writer’s constipation because, when you’re writing, a little comes out but its crap. It’s like smearing crap all over your work.” That had everyone cracking up laughing. I got in line and had all my books signed. Jennifer Bosworth did a tarot reading because she didn’t have any swag and I got the leader card, I can’t remember the name of it, but she said I was going to be a leader. I got a signed book mark by Anna Banks as well, plus a poster. I felt really bad for Anna Banks because the airport had lost her luggage. I had my books signed and I also got a poster signed. It had to of been the best day of my ENTIRE life!!! No joke. It was the first time I had met an author, not to mention authorS. I had a great time and the authors were SUPER friendly and I hope to get to meet up with them in the future. ☺

So awesome that you got to go. I only live about an hour and a half from Lansing and will have to consider going to some of their book signings. If you and Kristi are going, tell Kristi to let us know way in advance so we can go to meet you guys too.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun, I’m so glad your first experience was a great one! I have been to quite a few book signings, but this one sounds especially awesome. I have never been to a signing when they show the book trailers (or authors do tarot readings), sounds like a really special event.

What a great first signing experience! It’s fun to meet more than one author at once. Why were you all the only two at the meet and greet ? Did they set it up that way ?

Christina, all of us Fierce Reads girls adored you! It was a pleasure meeting you and getting a chance to chat for a bit. Oh, and I think you got the Heirophant card. I remember because I was freaking out. No one ever gets that card when I read for them, and it’s one of the cards featured in Struck.

Weren’t they such a fun group!? The Fierce Reads tour was the first time I went to an author signing too and I had so much fun! Definitely can’t wait to attend more events. I bought Monument 14 and Struck so I could get them signed (and of course because I wanted to read them) and now I’m dying to pick up Of Poseidon and Shadow of Bone. They were all such fabulous authors

Christina – sounds like you had an fantastic time! I am really excited because I am actually getting ready to attend my first author event and I have been racking my brain on questions and wondering if I’m the only person who would be nervous to attend one. So, thank you for sharing this – both of you – it puts me at ease to know others share in my fears! Thanks Christina and Kristi!
