Another captivating series from Alyson Noel!
Daire has the best life ever! She gets to travel all over the world and hang out with cute self indulged celebrities! Well it’s the best life every until she starts having crazy visions with severed heads and insane breakdown. They kind of put a damper on everything.
Unsure of what to do for her daughter, Daire’s mom sends her off to Enchantment, New Mexico to live with her estranged grandmother. In Enchantment, Daire meets two gorgeous brothers, discovers that she comes from a long line of Seekers, and that she has to save the world!
I didn’t like Daire so much at the beginning of the novel. Perhaps it wasn’t Daire so much that I didn’t like, but her relationship with her mother. Young mother or not, if I talked to my mom the way that she did, she would have slapped me silly! But once Daire was settled in Enchantment, she started growing on me.
I liked that the story was more about Daire and her developing her abilities than it was about the two boys. I was a little worried that part would overshadow everything, but it didn’t! It was a nice progression toward the end where the boys really come to play in the story.
I felt like this was a first in a series. And yes, I realize it was! There was just a lot of information that we are presented with. But that often happens with a first in a series. That being said, it didn’t make me enjoy it any less. If anything, it did an excellent job setting up everything for the next books in the series.
I really loved the Soul Seeker aspect of the novel, with the Spirit Guides and the portals to the different worlds. I’d love to hear about the research that Noel did for this series. I was able to hear a little bit about some she did, with taking Shaman classes, but I’m sure the entire thing was very complex!
I’m really looking forward to seeing where this series goes!

I read the first few pages of this one, and it seemed to drag on. But I think I need to give it another chance if its as captivating as you say!
