Rosaline knows that she and Rob are destined to be together. Rose has been waiting for years for Rob to kiss her—and when he finally does, it’s perfect. But then Juliet moves back to town. Juliet, who used to be Rose’s best friend. Juliet, who now inexplicably hates her. Juliet, who is gorgeous, vindictive, and a little bit crazy…and who has set her sights on Rob. He doesn’t even stand a chance.

Rose is devastated over losing Rob to Juliet. This is not how the story was supposed to go. And when rumors start swirling about Juliet’s instability, her neediness, and her threats of suicide, Rose starts to fear not only for Rob’s heart, but also for his life. Because Shakespeare may have gotten the story wrong, but we all still know how it ends…

When You Were Mine is hitting shelves on May 1, 2012. It’s a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet from the perspective of Rosaline, Romeo’s first (and true?) love. In addition the film rights were acquired by FOX and there has been a lot of buzz about the production and possible casting!

    I kind of agree with an above poster that they look more like they are falling asleep rather than about to kiss. BUt it’s kind of sweet at the same time? I’m not sure how I feel about it…kind of torn. Lol.

    I’m so excited for this book – love the idea!

    Not a fan of the cover, though. I liked the old cover a lot better. I really like this font, but I’m just not that big a fan of covers with faces…

    Haha! That sounds like a great read. I loved Shakespeare as a teenager. Although Romeo and Juliet was not my favorite play (I much prefer the comedies like As You Like It, Taming of the Shrew, Midsummer’s Night Dream, Twelfth Night, and Comedy of Errors), it still holds a special place in my heart for being the first Shakespeare play I ever read.

    Not the biggest fan. There’s nothing wrong with the cover, it’s just…okay.

    The synopsis sounds extremely intriguing though! I didn’t really enjoy Romeo & Juliet, but this new take on it from Rosaline’s perspective sounds so fascinating!
