What do guys and girls really think? Twelve of the most dynamic and engaging YA authors writing today team up for this one-of-a-kind collection of “he said/she said” stories-he tells it from the guy’s point of view, she tells it from the girl’s. These are stories of love and heartbreak. There’s the good-looking jock who falls for a dangerous girl, and the flipside, the toxic girl who never learned to be loved; the basketball star and the artistic (and shorter) boy she never knew she wanted; the gay boy looking for love online and the girl who could help make it happen. Each story in this unforgettable collection teaches us that relationships are complicated-because there are two sides to every story.
I loved how diverse the stories in this novel were! That was probably my favorite aspect. Diversity ROCKS! The writing was also superb. Although I wouldn’t expect any less from this group of authors. The stories were well developed and I wouldn’t call any of them predictable!
I don’t think that the light tone of the cover for this novel worked for these stories at all. I was expecting more romantic stories, and I think that is where my disappointment comes from. I was just expecting… more. I wouldn’t have necessarily called some of these connections “relationships.”
Overall Girl Meets Boy is a diverse and entertaining read.

I was kinda thinking from the cover this book would be full of the romantic stuff too. that’s what I really love in a book, but I’m enjoying regular contemporaries these days, so I think I’ll still give it a try anyways. Now that I know what to expect in it.. I dont think I’ll be dissapointed it lacks the lovey doveys.

This sounds great! I wish Amazon had the lists of authors who wrote the short stories. After some searching I found it on the editor/author Kelly Milner Halls’ site, FYI if you’re interested:
Chris Crutcher/Kelly Milner Halls
Joseph Bruchac/Cynthia Leitich Smith
James Howe/Ellen Wittlinger
Terry Trueman/Rita Williams-Garcia
Terry Davis/Rebecca Fjelland Davis
Randy Powell/Sara Ryan
I’m more excited to read the boys side of the stories…it would be nice to see some things from their side once in a while.

Aw, I was looking forward to this one! I like compilations of short stories because of the variety of writing styles and because I always look forward to discovering new authors, but I also thought it would be more about love and relationships.

Oh shucks. I didn’t know this was an anthology of stories! I was so intrigued by the cover and thought it was some deep romance/relationship book in the style of Jenny Han’s awesome series, The Summer I turned Beautiful. I’m disappointed to hear this. Darn…
