Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come back seemingly fine

—despite the scans that showed significant brain damage. Everyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she’s far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can’t control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it?

Then Delaney meets Troy Varga, who recently emerged from a coma with similar abilities. At first she’s reassured to find someone who understands the strangeness of her new existence, but Delaney soon discovers that Troy’s motives aren’t quite what she thought. Is their gift a miracle, a freak of nature-or something much more frightening?

My first 2012 debut! YAY!

Fracture. This book was entertaining, it was gripping and it was well written. I had a lot of fun reading it! And I would definitely recommend it. That being said, there were things about this novel that I loved and things about it that were just okay.

I loved the characterization! These characters had depth. I didn’t particularly love Delaney, I had a hard time decided if I liked her not. She drove me a little crazy at times, but still she was well written. Perhaps some of my disdain was her constant need to lead Decker on and then get mad when he finds someone that shows him he likes him and doesn’t play games! Argh! Come on Delaney! I mean the guy saved your life! Troy was a really fun character. One-second I loved him and the next he creeped me the heck out. I loved it!

I really enjoyed the mystery aspect of this novel. Delaney trying to figure out exactly what is going on with her. The aspect of her ability while interesting, really didn’t work out for me as well I had hoped it would. It was getting really intense and then it just fell flat. Although it did leave the ending of the story open for interpretation.

I also had so many questions concerning Troy. And this might be a bit spoilery so perhaps you might want to skip these next few sentences. It seems Troy is constantly at battle with himself. It seems that if he was so concerned with being stuck in a “living hell” why did he not to kill himself earlier? That part just didn’t add up to me.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading Fracture! I had a few snags with the book, but nothing that kept me from devouring it. The cover is awesome and really represents the eerie tone of the book. Looking forward to what Miranda comes up with next.
