The newest book in the series (hitting shelves APRIL 3! mark your calendars!) is Black Heart!
Here’s a little more information about the book and it’s BEAUTIFUL cover! WARNING: Don’t read the summary if you haven’t read Book One: White Cat or Book Two: Red Glove! The summary is a bit spoilery! Just look at the pretty cover!
Cassel Sharpe knows he’s been used as an assassin, but he’s trying to put all that behind him. He’s trying to be good, even though he grew up in a family of con artists and cheating comes as easily as breathing to him. He’s trying to do the right thing, even though the girl he loves is inextricably connected with crime. And he’s trying to convince himself that working for the Feds is smart, even though he’s been raised to believe the government is the enemy.
But with a mother on the lam, the girl he loves about to take her place in the Mob, and new secrets coming to light, the line between what’s right and what’s wrong becomes increasingly blurred. When the Feds ask Cassel to do the one thing he said he would never do again, he needs to sort out what’s a con and what’s truth. In a dangerous game and with his life on the line, Cassel may have to make his biggest gamble yet—this time on love.

This is my all time favorite series. OMG. the covers look FANTASTIC. SERIOUSLY. I am totally freaking out right now, jumping up and down. I cannot wait for the third book!!!

I think that the covers are really nice. I love them. I just have no idea how they go along with the story. I also hate that now they will look dramatically different from the rest of the series. But I still cant wait to read them!

Not gonna lie, I’m pretty sure the original cover of White Cat turned off a lot of people, so I’m hoping more people will read these books now with these covers Squees, although I’m curious to know what the cover of Black Heart would have been w/ the original style of the covers, I’m pretty happy with the new covers

Oh my goodness! I can’t even believe those beautiful, beautiful, beautiful covers! I have yet to read the series (despite meeting Holly Black multiple times), and call me shallow, but these really make me want to… Now if only I had signed versions of these ones instead of the old ones….

I love the covers! They are so much prettier than the old ones, which (to me) looked pretty amateur and poorly designed (especially the hardback of White Cat).

Frankly, I think they’re gorgeous. The dramatic, curly text against the black background and the bold colors make them really striking and just overall gorgeous.

I think these are absolutely gorgeous but would fit a different series better. I am in love with the current covers and I think they really evoke the feel of the story. These are almost too pretty. I’d still love the have them on my shelf though!

I think they are better than the ones with models on them, because then you can imagine your own characters. Whenever a model is on the cover you try and figure out which character that is and then thats only how you imagine them. So, yea i like these new modern covers =]

I do think the old covers embodied the story more though. -
I will admit I’m a Holly Black Virgin, I haven’t read anything by her, but I have always wanted to lose it LOL to the Curse workers series LOL and now with the beautiful covers I want to read them even more. Though I do feel and even though I haven’t read the series that the other covers did embodied the story better than this ones, but I haven’t read them so who knows. But they’re beautiful.

I haven’t seen the old covers (actually this is the first time I’ve seen the series at all!, but I absolutely love them! You don’t ever really see anything like those. I really love the newest one (the purple one) the most.

At first I wasn’t sure if I liked the new covers. I really liked the colors of the old covers, the black, red, and white just stood out to me. But then seeing all three of the new covers together, I have to say that they definitely caught my eye. In other words I like both the old and new covers.

They are beautiful, but to be quite honest, I am a little sad that they changed the covers before the last book has been released. I own the first two, and I would have liked for the third to match them. I’ll probably end up purchasing a new set with the new covers though if I don’t win this one. =)

Grr this makes me so mad. I like these covers well enough, but I can’t stand it when publishers do this. I already bought books 1 & 2 in hardcover. Now I’m going to have to re-buy them so I can have a matched set. It seems like this is happening to every series now, but I guess there’s not much we can do about it

Personally, I prefer the old covers. I have only read White Cat in this series, but the new cover has nothing to do with the book imo. To me, this looks sciencefiction-y and just ugh. Having said that, I HATE that publishers decide to change covers when there are already books published in a series. Readers who have been a fan of the series and bought the books when they came out, won’t have matching books and will have to re-buy the entire series to get them matching. It seems to be some sort of trend in YA and it’s something I strongly dislike.

I really like the new designs. They just seem more grown. I did like the other covers too and I agree with someone else who said they would’ve liked it if they’d made the third one with the old style too. People like to have the whole matching set (like me). But they do look pretty freaking awesome!

Thanks for the warning about not reading the synopsis! I just looked at the covers and I think they’re awesome. I love the simple black background with the bright contrasting title, and how the design is tied to the main word. I love an understated design, it makes me want to examine it more.

I think the new covers are cool, but the old covers captured something about the series that was SO Holly Black! I’m not a big fan of cover changes mid-series, because I rush to support books when they first come out and hate that I can’t complete my collection. But at least, with this series, we have a choice. These are cool, but I think the others remind me of the book, more.

These covers are definitely beautiful but I don’t feel like they’re fitting for the series. The old ones definitely had the sort of crime noir feel that the novels give off. I do think it’s cool that they seem to draw a whole new audience in but I’m not sure they’ll get what they’re expecting.
Also, since the titles have a color in the name already would it have been so difficult to use the colors in the cover? It seems a simplistic thing to say but I think they’d look better. More varied.

Why?!?! I adored the old covers. They fit perfectly with the mobster themes, and they have significance within the stories. The new ones are gorgeous but generic, and totally don’t fit in with the style of Cassel’s narration.
I especially don’t understand it since a cover for Black Heart was already designed in the old style. Do you know why they did the revamp? Why bother making the “original” Black Heart cover if this was going to happen?

When I first saw the new Black Heart cover, I definitely preferred the old set, but seeing them together, I’ve warmed up to them a little, especially Red Glove. Still love the atmosphere of the old ones and a little disappointed there won’t be a third, but the new ones are still pretty sweet, and even a downright ugly cover wouldn’t be able to discourage my enthusiasm for this book.

I loved the old covers of this series… I mean, Cassel looked amazing on those covers… These are not my favorite because I just love Cassel’s pic in White Cat. Red Glove’s cover was iffy… I mean the glove on the cover was kind of creepy, but it totally suited the book.

Do I like these better than either of the old versions? Yes. However, it’s incredibly frustrating when publishers change the looks of series still in development, as I expect my books to match. One of the reasons I almost never buy books in a series until it is over is because of this phenomenon.

I love the covers…I don’t know why, but it has like a 1920′s art deco feel. I just wish that they would have continued the original covers for the hardbacks, then switched to these ones for the paperback. But then again, I’m a bit OCD about my books matching. I love them.

I loved the old cover. I’m kind of disappointed they won’t finish the past cover series. This reboot looks to generic to me, and doesn’t fit the dark mood of the books. That said, LOVE the books and am dying to read this one!

I am not a fan of this cover. It looks like something from the 1970′s…Charlie’s Angels like. I don’t think it fits the story. And I think it will not gain male readers. I mean…WHY do they have female image on White Cat? No guy would pick that up and it’s Cassle’s story. And I HATE when publishers change the design mid-series. Some people want their books to match.

I’m not a fan of the changing of covers period. Maybe it’s my aversion to change, though in this case, I do have a signed original copy of WHite Cat. It’s the only one I own, though, so it wouldn’t be horrific to buy the new editions to look nice and neat; I just wish that the publishing company would settle once they’ve created the finished copy of the first book. Though it might have to do with people judging a book by its cover (guilty as charged), and that affecting their sales. But I digress. They do seem very Holly Black-ish, though. As simply covers, they’re definitely eye-catching.

Okay, so I’m obviously in the minority, but I absolutely HATE these covers!
I saw at least one of them months ago and was hoping that it was a joke (especially since I’d already seen the “normal” cover for Black Heart and loved it). They remind me of something from the 1970s (not a good thing) and don’t match the tone of the books.
If I have a choice and both covers are released, I’ll definitely buy the one with Cassel and Lila.

They are extremely pretty, and very minimalist which I like because that makes book covers last throughout the ages. But I will admit, I have a soft place in my heart for the original covers. I just felt the first White Cat cover was so striking!

I really love the new cover designs, especially with the cool swirly-dot type design. The colors are a lot more vibrant and stand out more to (especially on the black background) which is gorgeous. I am kinda sick of the whole mysterious-person-looking covers that everyone is doing. So, this is a nice change.

I’m kind of having mixed feelings about these new covers. The old ones were so edgy looking and I loved them. The new ones have a strangely appealing retro feel to them, and I think they still portray fairly well the emotions/theme of the book. It will still look weird, however, to have the covers not look the same on my shelf. But, since they had to re-design them again, I think they couldn’t have turned out better!

I actually liked the older covers better just because they fit my idea of what the characters should look like. I also liked how they positioned the title as the cover image with the red glove and the black cat. Though, I wonder if they got to black heart and thought, “how am I going to photograph THAT?” Easy: dissection (eww).

I don’t care for these at all. I really liked the RED GLOVE cover. I just can’t see guy readers picking up BLACK HEART with that new cover. This is such a great series to recommend to teen boys, but the new covers are too feminine for my tastes. Also, I don’t see how these covers relate to the Curseworkers series.
It’s a shame that such an amazing series is doomed to so many cover changes.

I’ve read all of Holly Black’s books.As for the new covers, I like the one for Red Glove, but not the rest of them.
I like the people on the previous covers. I’ll get used to these ones, though. They’ll grow on me. -
I think the new covers are fresh. I am a bit confused on why most series are changing their covers though? Is there a certain reason for this?
Anyway, I do really like them. Thanks for the giveaway! You rock.

I love the new covers, but now I’m going to have 1 mismatched. I only own book 2 right now (from the Borders Sale), I want to get them all so I’ll have to hunt down a copy of the old cover for book 1 at least. Book 3′s cover is my favorite though.

I liked these *a lot* better than the original covers. The original cover of White Cat kept me from getting it from the library for months. It just didn’t look interesting.
