It’s always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate’s going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won’t live past the fall.
Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld—and if she accepts his bargain, he’ll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.
Kate is sure he’s crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she’ll become Henry’s future bride, and a goddess.
I love Greek mythology! I’m a fan of any sort of mythology and folklore, but Greek mythology is one of my favorites! I especially love when an author recreates a myth, spinning an old favorite into something new. There are so many great novels featuring Greek mythology and The Goddess Test has quickly become one of my favorites!
My favorite book despite their subject matter are ones that have great characters, a captivating story like and are well written. The Goddess Test possesses all of those qualities and then some!
I loved Kate and her dedication to her mother, I loved that she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and that she stood up for the things that she loved and the people that she loved. She was certainly worthy of divine things!
And I really liked the romance in this novel, it wasn’t a cheesy rush… it was a well paced and realistic. (As it could be!) And although I may have a figured a few things out early, I was still thoroughly engrossed in the story the entire time…. and seeing how it all came together at the end… it was rather brilliant!
The Goddess Test was an entertaining and memorable addition the YA books featuring Greek mythology. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series! It’ll be epic, I’m sure!

I really liked The Goddess Test as well, though I do wish there had been a bit more explanation. Even when I got answers at the end of the novel, I was still confused! (The Greek Gods sure like to keep you on your toes.) I'm hoping the sequel dives a bit deeper into Carter's version of Greek mythology.

I'm so torn on reading this book. I'll read a bad review, decide I don't want to read it and then I'll read a glowing review like yours and I want to read it again!
