I love anything Austen and when I get the urge to wrap myself in romance it's Sense and Sensibility with Kate Winslet. I keep seeing her on top of the mountain crying tears in the rain when she realizes the man she loves has married another….
    Kills me everytime.

Love the rottie sighting. We need more dogs on IMM!
I also like the Twilighty covers that Harper Teen has given these classics. I hope it gets more people to read them. I read Jane Eyre in 9th grade, but I should really re-read it. I've read Sense & Sensibility twice. It's good although not Austen's best IMO.

I haven't read many classical books either…just whatever they made me read in high school. They just don't hold my attention and getting through them is like pulling teeth…*sigh*..maybe at some point in my life they will appeal.

I hope you like Jane Eyre. It's my favorite book. Hopefully teens will read it too.

(And yes you said MacLean right.)

The only classics I've read are the ones I was forced to in school. It has put me off trying others now I'm a little older and reading more I am sad to say, but I do love those new covers! So jealous of that Iron Queen hoodie! So pretty! And I adore The Iron Fey. Happy reading! :)

I shall hold back my rampage over the Twilighing of the classic novels because I saw XANDER! And he distracted me long enough to make me spare you my tirade on how stupid I think that is. ;)

I'm sure I saw Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights with similar covers in the UK last Summer, though obviously not from 'Harper Teen'. I haven't read Sense & Sensibility either but I have read Jane Eyre when I was doing my English Lit A level course and it is brilliant.

The Betrayal of Maggie Blair looks really good. I think it's pretty neat how you mentioned it is based on her family history. WOW! I also love the new covers for the classics. I should get them for my classroom. Thanks for sharing those!

Fab books this week, I love the sound of The Betrayal of Maggie Blair and the new covers for Jane Eyre and Sense and Sensibility do look very nice. I haven't yet read either of them (wasn't able to get into Pride and Prejudice some reason). Maybe one day I'll try again.

    Happy Reading :D

I haven't read any of the classics. I should hide my face in shame lol.

Hmm, I'm not at all sure about Maggie Blair. I'm going to wait to see some more reviews on this before I decide.

    Happy reading!

I never read the classics as a younger reader either. Though I have read Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, Jane Austen is an author that I have avoided.

Thanks for hosting IMM. I get so many ideas for books to read.

I haven't read Sense & Sensibility either. But the new covers Harper Teen put on the classics are so pretty. I will probably end up buying them for the covers! They kind of remind me of the Twilight covers a little…

The Betrayal Of Maggie Blair sounds fantastic…and set in Scotland too! I'm interested :)

Kristi, I've barely read any of the classics either. I keep 'meaning' too but just never get round to it. Those are very pretty covers though!

I'm on the fence about the classics being redesigned. On one hand I think it's an awesome idea – helps get them into the hands of a whole new generation of readers (and let's face it the old covers are pretty ugly and don't do much to sell themselves) – but on the other hand – do I really want people mistaking Pride and Prejudice as the 5th Twilight novel?

I love the sound of The Betrayal Of Magiie Blair, histroicals are my favourite. The cover is beautiful too :) I'm planning on getting some of the classics from the library as I really want to read a lot of them in my teens. I hope that the new covers entice more readers through the Twilightish feel to them!

Don't feel bad about not reading the classics as from the above comments, looks like you're not the only one! I have a copy of Sense & Sensibily, but still haven't gotten around to it. Some day… :)

    Love the Iron Queen hoodie!

I love the shiny new covers for the classics. I want them – but I can't I already own those books and I can't possibly buy more of the same just for pretty covers. Can I?

Oh I've had my eye on the Betrayal of Maggie Blair, I love the sound of it:) Now that I don't have to read Jane Eyre for school, I should go back and re-read it, I think I'll have a very different reaction to it when I get to read it for fun instead of knowing I'm going to be tested on it:)

Nice mailbox contents, though I'm not sure I'm lovin' the Twilight-ish covers of the Classics reissues.

Question: What does it mean when there's a little red x by my name in the links. This has happened the last three times I've posted a link.

Love Austen, and Jane Eyre is one of my top favorite reads of all time – it was considered a very radical statement on feminine independence in its time – I hope you enjoy them both.

As for me, I am off to add The Betrayal of Maggie Blair onto my TBR list :) Happy Reading to you, as well!
