- prize packs are only for those participating in the 2010 Debut Author Challenge. if you are not participating in the challenge, please do not enter. Please make sure your blog is signed up on this post. If your blog is not listed here, then it's not on my spread sheet, and you are not an official participant! Make sure to follow the directions on the sign up post... you must have a direct link to your challenge post!
- prize packs are open to everyone, that includes international readers!
- you can gain an entry for the prize packs by adding review links to the Mister Linky (more information about that below), additionally there will be more chances to gain entries by commenting/filling out forms on debut author interviews, and debut author reviews here at The Story Siren, more info on that to come.
Review Information:
- post your review links (for those reviews posted in January and/or for those 2010 debut novels you read and reviewed in 2009, this is the only month that will be allowed) into the Mister Linky. Please put the direct URL to your review post, not your blog url! Any 2010 debut novels read in 2009 can not count toward your challenge total, but they will be accepted as an entry for the January prize pack
- for non bloggers....... (more information for non-bloggers below)
- For every review you post you will gain one entry for the monthly prize packs.
- please be sure to make sure your book qualifies as a 2010 debut novel, otherwise the review link will be deleted and it will not count as an entry. I realize different countries have different release dates, I will keep that that in mind!
More review information for non-bloggers:
One of the big reasons I decided to continue the debut author challenge, is because I think it's important to share the love of books, especially those written by new authors. Posting reviews is a big part of spreading the word!
As a non blogger, I encourage you to write reviews for the debut novels you've read! There are several places where you can post your reivews:
- Amazon.com (I do believe you need to set up an account to post reviews, and possibly even need to order at least one book from the site.)
- Barnes and Noble.com (I do believe you will need to se up an account for this one as well.)
- Goodreads.com (This is a great online community for book lovers, if you aren't a member already, I suggest you sign up! You will love it! Keep track of the books you've read, the ones you want to read, and it's a great place to post your reviews!)
- Shelfari.com (This is very similar to Goodreads, but the set up is just a little different. Another great place to post your reviews.)
As stated above, if you are a non blogger, please fill out this form, so that your entries for the prize pack can be recorded.
OR....
If you do become a member of Goodreads you can add a direct link from your Goodreads review into the Mister Linky! (your reviews do not have to be a certain length, write what you are comfortable with, nor do reviews have to be positive, I am looking for honest reviews.)
It is simple to get a direct link to a Goodreads review:
1.) Click on the "My Books" link this should take you to the list of your "bookshelves"
2.) Click the "bookshelf" where the book is shelved.
3.) Once the list of books on the shelf is visable, go the left. You will see an "x" "edit" and "view"
4.) Click on view and this will take you to your review!
5.) Copy the URL that is in the address bar and paste it into the Mister Linky!
6.) TA-DA!
Please add your review links for JANUARY to the Mister Linky below. Remember to put in your direct post url, not your blog url! Good Luck!
As for signing the Mister Linky, lets do, debut title with the blog name in parentheses.
So it would look like: The Secret Year (The Story Siren)
Lots of questions about what books count and what ones don't.... here's the dealio:
I will count the following reviews toward entries for the monthly prize pack (this month only):
- The Dark Divine by Bree Despain
- Hearts at Stake by Alyxandra Harvey
- Magic Under Glass by Jacyln Dolamore
- Of All the Stupid Things by Alexandra Diaz
- Scones & Sensibility by Lindsay Eland
- The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg
Please be aware that there are people participating in this challenge that are not from the US. In addition there maybe variations within release dates. If you are in the US, I ask that you use US release dates! Just because some one has a title on the Mister Linky, doesn't mean that, that title will count for you! I have given those not living in the US, the option to choose debut novels from their countries, as well as any US titles they can acquire. This means for you US blogger's Beautiful Creatures is not a 2010 debut novel. However it is a debut novel for those living in the UK as it isn't released there until February!
Thanks so much!
To qualify for the challenge books must have a release date of 2010!
(except for the 6 books listed above. I will only count those titles for this month!)

Awesome!
By the way, how should we sign the Mr. Linky? Just the blog name, or should we include the title of the reviewed book?
Also, this will stay up all month right and we can add to it all month? (for example, I reviewed The Secret Year but my review will not be posted until next week).
This is going to be sooo fun! hehe
Cindy
This is what I get for trying to do this at 2 am... Totalllllllly didn't mean to put Captivate on this one. =P Delete please... thank you!
LOL. And I prob shouldn't have put my name next to either. Oh well. I made sure not to put it on Magic Under Glass. (is that considered a 2010 debut? it came out sooo close to 2010, lol)
I was wondering about that too Cindy. I put it on my list (even though I ended up reading it in 2009 so I can't count it) because the ARC I had said January 2010 - but apparently it came out in December I guess? So I used my review for 3RR instead cause I wasn't sure.
I am so excited about this challenge. I cannot wait for my first book to arrive from Amazon. I have now found 12 UK YA debut authors for 2010 with a lot of help from other UK bloggers. I wanted to say thanks for the inspiration, I am loving searching out our new writers. I have started a separate post to list all the ones I find because I'm not sure I'll get to reading them all. Don't want to hijack your comments but if you want a link to the list post just drop me an email.
Cindy, I will accept Magic Under Glass since it's release date was originally 2010.
And yes! This post will be up all month so that links can be added! I'll have a link to it with all the author challenge stuff up on the left side bar!
Alyssa
Beautiful Creatures would not count, unless you live in the UK. I will allow The Dark Divine, for this month only.
Ohh, awesome prizes! And thanks for the clarification on the five titles you mentioned that were released in December, I was wondering about those too. :)
If we have more than one review that qualifies for this month should we post them all? or do you just want us posting one?
Rebecca, post them all! Each month you'll want to link all the reviews you've done for that coinciding month.
I can't see Mr Linky anymore ...
I'm sorry if you see that I entered Hearts at Stake/ My Love Lies Bleeding twice. It's because I added the wrong link :(
Now i am reading "Good Fortune". Does this book qualify for the challenge?
Don't forget LibraryThing as an option for your non-blog followers. :-)
Thanks for hosting this great challenge! I loved 8th Grade Superzero and I'm excited to read the rest of the debut books on my list :)
Great challenge! Thanks for all your hard work.
I'm having such a difficult time with new books and my library. Hopefully, things will pick up as the year progresses.
Thanks again for hosting this challenge. I don't think I would have read The Mark otherwise. It was a great book!
Just posted my review for Magic Under Glass. It's the only one I've been able to get so far because of the library's lack of funds in acquiring new books.
I'm glad I read it though--it was amazing. And now I'll be off to buy it since it's one I'd like to read over and over again.
Okay, I finally got it right and posted for Magic Under Glass. Thanks.
Argh! Sorry delete #198 - auto save messed it up.
Still getting the hang of the Linky thing. I got the title in there, and my link, but not my name. I'm number 202.
Oh, yikes, I know. I put my name but not the title of the book. 171 is my review for Firespell by Chloe Neill. Sorry!
I made a booboo with link 237 - can you please delete it?? Sorry!
Just posted my review of Dark Divine...my first review ever!! :)
