Guidelines for Posting Debut Challenge Reviews

Please refer to this post for any questions regarding your reviews & prizes for the 2010 Debut Author Challenge.

Prize Pack information:

  • prize packs are only for those participating in the 2010 Debut Author Challenge. if you are not participating in the challenge, please do not enter. Please make sure your blog is signed up on this post. If your blog is not listed here, then it’s not on my spread sheet, and you are not an official participant! Make sure to follow the directions on the sign up post… you must have a direct link to your challenge post!
  • prize packs are open to everyone, that includes international readers!
  • you can gain an entry for the prize packs by adding review links to the Mister Linky (more information about that below)
Review Information:
  • post your review links into the Mister Linky. Please put the direct URL to your review post, not your blog url!
  • for non bloggers……. (more information for non-bloggers below)
  • For every review you post you will gain one entry for the monthly prize packs.
  • please be sure to make sure your book qualifies as a 2010 debut novel, otherwise the review link will be deleted and it will not count as an entry. I realize different countries have different release dates, I will keep that that in mind!
  • that being said, REMEMBER…. this is an internationally hosted challenge, meaning that what is a debut for one person may not be a debut for another. UK participants will have books that US readers will not be able to claim.
  • I ask that US readers use US release dates only!
More review information for non-bloggers:
One of the big reasons I decided to continue the debut author challenge, is because I think it’s important to share the love of books, especially those written by new authors. Posting reviews is a big part of spreading the word!
As a non blogger, I encourage you to write reviews for the debut novels you’ve read! There are several places where you can post your reivews:
  • Amazon.com (I do believe you need to set up an account to post reviews, and possibly even need to order at least one book from the site.)
  • Barnes and Noble.com (I do believe you will need to se up an account for this one as well.)
  • Goodreads.com (This is a great online community for book lovers, if you aren’t a member already, I suggest you sign up! You will love it! Keep track of the books you’ve read, the ones you want to read, and it’s a great place to post your reviews!)
  • Shelfari.com (This is very similar to Goodreads, but the set up is just a little different. Another great place to post your reviews.)
As stated above, if you are a non blogger, please fill out this form, so that your entries for the prize pack can be recorded.
OR….
If you do become a member of Goodreads you can add a direct link from your Goodreads review into the Mister Linky! (your reviews do not have to be a certain length, write what you are comfortable with, nor do reviews have to be positive, I am looking for honest reviews.)
It is simple to get a direct link to a Goodreads review:
1.) Click on the “My Books” link this should take you to the list of your “bookshelves”
2.) Click the “bookshelf” where the book is shelved.
3.) Once the list of books on the shelf is visable, go the left. You will see an “x” “edit” and “view”
4.) Click on view and this will take you to your review!
5.) Copy the URL that is in the address bar and paste it into the Mister Linky!
6.) TA-DA!

Not the YA Connection

I’m tired of doing the YAC…. I like it, but it takes forever to do (at least two hours) and I don’t feel like doing it right now…. or possibly ever.

But I do have some bookish type news that I wanted to share today, so I’m going to do that instead.

1) Amazon Pulls MacMillan books!

Um yes, you read that right. Amazon pulled at the titles from MacMillan, which includes: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, St. Martins Press and Henry Holt. You can still order them from third parties but not directly from Amazon. Really Amazon?

You can see an article about the whole thing, Amazon Pulls Macmillan Books Over E-Book Price Disagreement.

Although I will admit, I for one, would not be willing to pay $15 for an e-book. However, it was a pretty childish move on Amazon’s part to pull the books.

2) I’m a judge for the SMOOCHIES!

It’s an award… more information on that coming up! Super excited to be a part of this!

3) TeenReads.com is co-hosting the annual Children’s Choice Book Awards!

Teenreads.com is again collaborating with the Children’s Book Council (CBC) on the 2010 Teen Choice Book of the Year, offering teens an opportunity to share their five favorite books of 2009. The five titles that receive the most votes will serve as the finalists for the CBC’s 2010 Teen Choice Book of the Year.

Get your vote on!

4) Win $1000

Are you a dreamer…. of awesome DREAMS?

Then you should check out the Don’t Let Your Dreams Fade Vlog Contest, hosted by author Lisa McMann (Wake, Fade & Gone) and Simon and Schuster.

All you have to do is answer the question “How are your dreams and goals like Janie’s?” in a two minute or less vlog.

Lisa McMann herself will choose the winner… and that winner is going to walk away with $1000 to use toward their life dream!

Check out this example.. Don’t Let Your Dreams Fade Vlog

5) Are you going to BEA this May?

Is it your first time? Do you have a ton of questions?

If you answered yes to either of those questions, like I did, you might want to check out this blog tour! I know I will be!

A Blog Tour You Don’t Want to Miss!

Books to Pine For (32)

I’ve had a lot of feedback concerning my “Books to Pine For” feature. A lot of you really enjoy it, but you admitted to wanting to know more about the books than just seeing a pretty cover. As a result, I’ve decided to change the format of my “Books to Pine For” posts.

Tell me what you think? Do you like the new format, or should I go back to the covers with the links?

check out all the books to pine for posts!
