The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her boyfriend’s loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls for a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld — a consequence they can’t possibly understand. Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk....
Three words: one unique series!

I just love the whole premise of this series. The soul screamers. It's such an unique element, and I can't wait to see where Rachel takes us next!

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy My Soul to Save as much as I did it's predecessor. I enjoyed the story, it was excellently written and there were plenty of twists and turns to keep you on you toes. I just didn't enjoy the characters as much this time around.

My favorite character from the first novel Todd, was sullen and closed off. He didn't have the smart-ass quality that first captured my heart! Also, I was not a fan of Addison at all. I didn't understand why Kaylee and Nash were risking so much to save her. I guess I'm just not a very compassionate person, but I didn't feel sorry for Addison, there was just something about her that rubbed me the wrong way. Rachel did an excellent job portraying her character so that you'd be empathetic toward her, but I just wasn't. I did enjoy the relationship between Kaylee and Nash, I thought it was a little rushed in the first book, but it seemed to be better developed this time.

I so enjoyed the more in depth look into the Netherworld, what a creepy place! Looking forward to seeing more of that world!

Overall, story was fantastic, writing was great... I just didn't enjoy the characters this time around.

I haven't read Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamer Series but with the great reviews for the first book I might give this book series a try. Nice review.

Anon - that's funny you like the cover because I hate the cover... I loved the old one that I think was on the ARC? I'm hoping to find an ARC when I go to Strand this week so I can have the old pretty cover.

Still haven't read book 1 though so I may not buy this one for a while either way.

What did the old cover look like? I thought it was similar to this one. Either way, I love both. I love how they're doing this series- very pretty covers.

I finally got my hands on the first book over Christmas when someone gave it to me. Have yet to read it though. I can't wait to get this one too.

I like the covers on this series. I haven't picked it up yet because I am not sure if I'll like it. I don't think the premise is really my thing. Of course, once I get through the 50 or so books on my TBR pile I might think about it. ;)

I pre-ordered this book a couple weeks ago on Amazon because I loved the first one so much. I hope I enjoy it, even if I don't love it.

I still have to read the first novel. I read the novella that preceded them all and loved it, I just haven't gotten around to purchasing the first. I'm going to have to do it soon. Thanks for the review.

Great review! I have the first book in this series, but haven't gotten to reading it yet. This makes me want to dive into it!

BookChic - the onld cover showed the full picture of the main character, like the book 1 cover did. I hate that they chopped it in half and the focus near her underarm is kinda weird!

I *love* the book 1 cover and the original book 2 cover.

BookChic - found a copy of the old cover picture: http://www.scifiguy.ca/2009/05/cover-art-my-soul-to-save-by-rachel.html

it may been used on the ARC or it may not have been used at all except shown online... but I do like it a lot better then the final cover.

This is a great series so far. I generally read a book and then pass it on but this one I held on to as I wanted to reread it before reading the 2nd book,oh, and don't forget the prequel which is free on Rachel Vincent's website. I love her werecat series and this one has also been a superior read.
