Blog Advice

Sunday, December 27, 2009
I'm going to use this post to compile and list some of the posts I've done on blog advice and blog how to's. I'm planning on keeping it updated and adding links as I have more posts on the blog.

If your just starting a blog, or maybe you're just interested in reading some blog tips you should check out the following series I conducted about blog tips. I've also went back and updated some of the information on the posts.

Blog Tips (1) This goes into detail about how to start a blog, where you should host your page, getting a design, etc.
Blog Tips (2) This post has tips about content and getting visitors.
Blog Tips (3)  This post discusses reviewing books on your site and where to get them. Having a book blog does not equal getting advance reader copies.

If advance readers copies are on your mind, you need to read: Advance Readers Copies: What You Need to Know

I also have two posts about the how and why I get "review" books. They are a little dated... so I'll need to update those soon, but they still have some reliable information in them: How Do You Get All Those Books? & How Do You Get All Those Books Part Two.

Treat others how you want to be treated! Check out my Book Blog Etiquette post!

Is Blogger your blog platform? This post shows how to easily upload photos, move them around within your post and how to change text to a link. Blogger also has a new Updated Editor that makes this even easier! To switch to the updated editor, head to your dashboard, hit the settings tab, then the basic tab. Scroll to the bottom where it says global settings and check updated editor.

Thanks for the heads-up about the Updated Editor. I probably wouldn't have found that for a while!

Fantastic that you've compiled them all in one post. You might want to perma-post this in a side bar. I'm sure you are asked questions like these all the time.

Your informative posts of this subject is what made me decide to go ahead with making my own book blog. The whole step by step process made it seem so much less daunting. Thanks heaps Kristi!

I would really love it if you could also post some blog advice on Contests. I have a number of items ready for my 100 followers giveaway but I am not sure what steps I should go through before holding the contest not only to get it attention but to make sure it is legitimate on a legal stance. Love your blog!

Thanks for the great post and thanks for all the tips you shared.
I have a small blog about my favourite romances and it's always nice to get some tips to improve my blogging. Even though my blog is just for fun I still try to do my best.

Thank you so much for posting this series! Your willingness to help new bloggers is fantastic. One often runs across some unfriendly people on the internet and it's so nice to find someone like you who's wise and willing to share her knowledge =)
