In My Mailbox explores the contents of my mailbox on a weekly basis. Of course I only mention the really cool things, like books! If you would like to participate and have your own “In My Mailbox” post, you can find more information here. (This post was inspired by Alea of Pop Culture Junkie.)
Well, I tried to record a vlog, but it just was not happening today. As you can see on my blooper post! And then I sorta ran out of time. So, just a regular post today.
But before I get to the books, I want to send out a HUGE THANK YOU. For nominating IMM as a Best Blog Feature for BBAW! I’m glad you all enjoy it as much as I do! And now onto the books!

Dreaming Anastasia by Joy Preble (PB, Sourcebooks, September 1, 2009)
In her dreams Annie is somewhere else. She is someone else. THe dreams seem as real as her waking life, and they terrify her. Then a stranger offers to expalin them– a boy whom by all apperances is her age. He calims he has been waiitng for someone who can help save Anastasia. And through him, Anne sees: you don’t need to be imprisoned to be trapped.

Every month for four days she turns into Jack, a guy—complete with all the parts. Now everyone in her hometown knows that something very weird is up with her. So what’s a girl (and a guy) to do? Get the heck out of town, that’s what! With her kooky best friend, Ramie, Jill sets out for New York City. There both she and Jack will have to figure out everything from the usual (relationships) to the not so usual (career options for a “cycler,” anyone?).
Love in the Higher Law by David Levithan (HB, Random House, August 25, 2009)
First there is a Before, and then there is an After. . . .The lives of three teens—Claire, Jasper, and Peter—are altered forever on September 11, 2001. Claire, a high school junior, has to get to her younger brother in his classroom. Jasper, a college sophomore from Brooklyn, wakes to his parents’ frantic calls from Korea, wondering if he’s okay. Peter, a classmate of Claire’s, has to make his way back to school as everything happens around him.
Here are three teens whose intertwining lives are reshaped by this catastrophic event. As each gets to know the other, their moments become wound around each other’s in a way that leads to new understandings, new friendships, and new levels of awareness for the world around them and the people close by.

Okay, so maybe Shelby has made a few mistakes with boys lately (how was she supposed to know Wes had “borrowed” that Porsche?). But her stepmother totally overreacts when she catches Shelby in a post-curfew kiss with a hot senior: Suddenly Shelby’s summer plans are on the shelf, and she’s being packed off to brat camp. It’s good-bye, prom dress; hello, hiking boots.
Things start looking up, though, when Shelby meets fellow camper (and son of a rock star) Austin Bridges III. But soon she realizes there’s more to Austin than crush material—his family has a dark secret, and he wants Shelby’s help guarding it. Shelby knows that she really shouldn’t be getting tangled up with another bad boy . . . but who is she to turn her back on a guy in need, especially such a good-looking one? One thing’s for sure: That pesky full moon is about to get her into trouble all over again.

I love, love the Ingo series by Helen Dunmore. I read the first book when it came out here in the states but then I got too anxious waiting for the other ones, so I ordered the rest from the UK. Hope you enjoy them as well. I'll have to pick up that 9/11 book. Looks intriguing. Happy reading!

Good haul! That's actually the second book I've seen where the protagonist switches from female to male. The other one was a fantasy, I can't remember what it was called, but it's kind of a weird thing to come across twice. O_o
