If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.
Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.
This is one of these times that I’m going to recommend you read a series in order! The Awakening was even better than The Summoning. Everything that I loved about the first book was present in this novel too, plus more!
I really love that Armstrong revealed more about the powers that the characters posses. It was fascinating to watch Chloe and Derek discover the extent and restraints on their powers. Excellent continuation on character development!
The plot was even more fast paced than the Awakening, there is a lot more action and adventure in the sequel. Which makes for a very exciting read, but also a very quick one. It was easy to become fully engaged in the story and notice the remaining pages becoming fewer.
I did get my wish, there was a lot more Derek! He is such a unique character, as is his relationship with Chloe. What is going on with those two? It is killing me.
Again, as with The Awakening, the writing is awesome, the story is awesome, the characters, are well, awesome! I CAN NOT wait to read the next book! The Reckoning!

I will likely end up giving this second book a chance one day. But I have so many other books right now that I haven't even read yet that I'm not going to rush out and buy it. :(
Great review!
I didn't like The Summoning nearly as much as I liked this one but I think reading Armstrong's adult Otherworld series helped me understand the characters a bit more. The Awakening? I couldn't put it down. Chloe's voice was solid and the writing was fantastic.
!!
I can't wait for the next one and to see where Chloe's and Derek's Relationship goes!!
on my review of the same.
