In My Mailbox: Week Nine

In My Mailbox explores the contents of my mailbox on a weekly basis. Of course I only mention the really cool things, like books! If you would like to participate and have your own “In My Mailbox” post, you can find more information here. I didn’t receive any actual books for review this week, but I did buy a lot!

Heartbreak River by Tricia Mills

Alex thought she’d be spending the summer focused on her family’s rafting business, burying the memories of her father’s death last year, and leaving behind all the messes she made in its wake.

But when Sean returns to town, she is forced to reckon with her mixed-up crushy feelings for him-more powerful than ever before. It takes another tragedy to make Alex realize Sean has loved her, and forgiven her, all along.

I can’t wait to read this one! Sounds right up my alley. I’m borrowing this one from Yan. Thanks Yan!!

My Amazon Purchases:

Need by Carrie Jones & Cracked Up To Be by Courtney Summers

Why… because I love them!

Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston & City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Also because I love them. City of Bones was a random purchase, I’ve had the second novel, so I had to complete the collection, obviously

Barnes and Noble Purchases:
okay so B&N had their after holiday sale, and well I just couldn’t resist… I went a little overboard, but I couldn’t help it. I have a problem. You know what I’m talking about, right?

Are We There Yet by David Levithan & Dating 4 Demons by Serena Robar

I’m a Levithan virgin, so why not start with an oldy. Plus it was a hardcover for $3.99, how could I not. and Dating 4 Demons (paperback), also a $3.99 purchase.

Avalon High by Meg Cabot & Bras & Broomsticks by Sarah Mlynowski

Both again $3.99 purchases. Avalon High in paperback and Bras & Broomsticks in hardcover. Didn’t I just mention the other day about getting the Mlynowski series! Score! Plus you can’t ever go wrong with Meg.

You, Maybe by Rachel Vail, Magic or Madness by Justine Larbalestier & If I have a Wicked Stepmother, Where’s My Prince? by Melissa Kantor

You, Maybe (hardcover) & IIHAWS,WMP? (hardcover) both $3.99 each! And Magic or Madness (paperback) for $1.99! I’ve wanted to read Vail, so check. I’m a Larbalestier virgin as well, plus I’ve heard good things about this series. I’ve read Kantor’s book and I really like the sparkly cover!

Teen Idol by Meg Cabot, The Au Pairs: Skinny-Dipping by Melissa de la Cruz & The Mediator: Twilight by Meg Cabot

Teen Idol (paperback) & Twilight (hardcover) were both $3.99. Again you can never go wrong with Cabot. And I know that’s like the 6th book in The Mediator series and I don’t have any of the others, but how could I pass that up. Plus Skinny-Dipping (paperback) was only $1.99!

Kissing Coffins by Ellen Schreiber, Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot & I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You by Ally Carter.

I haven’t read the Vampire Kisses novels, but I got the first novel at the last sale B&N had. This time I got the second novel Kissing Coffins (hardcover) $3.99. Another Meg Cabot. I love The Queen of Babble series! And ITYILYBTIHTKY haven’t read it, but would like to, both $3.99 purchases.

Okay so now you know what’s in mine, what did you get in yours? You can sign the Mr. Linky below, if you would, please link your actual post, so that it is easier to find! Thanks!

Lots of great deals and awesome books. I am waiting for a massive amazon order at the moment.

  • Khy

I cannot believe you’re a Levithan virgin. That’s practically a sin. NO ONE should be that.

  • WannabeWriter

What’s scary is I just bought Need, Cracked Up to Be, and Wondrous Strange offline too. o.O Great minds think alike? xD I haven’t read anything by David Levithan either (except a short story) … I should fix that too! I can’t wait for Heartbreak River as well.

  • Alea

Oh man, it's probably good I didn't really explore the B & N sale…. Several of these I've recently got or they are coming from Bookmooch!

  • Shalonda

Awwww, you make me feel so much better. I went wild at the Barnes and Noble sale also. I was starting to feel guilty, but as I look at your list I keep saying, “Man, I should’ve gotten that one too!”

  • Polo.Pony

Wow! I wish that I could have gone to the Barnes and Noble sale! Have fun with the reads!

  • Ellie

I bought a ton this week too…I ordered Cracked up to be too. The Ally Carter one is great, Avalon High’s awesome, and Skinny Dipping is good as well!

I’ve also never read anything by David Levithan…

  • Cat

I have to confess that up until your post about Twilight comparisons down there *points* I thought NEED was a vampire novel. And I never even looked twice at it. I generally don't like vampire novels you see. But then you mentioned Pixies and I took a closer look – now it's on my wishlist. Ha.

Loved Wondrous Strange, I am about to send my ARC to a book blog friend so I have to pick up another copy. City of Bones was also a fun read, I am waiting for City of Ashes to come out in paper…

B&N looks like it had some fantastic sale. Wish my Canadian large format store had the same!

  • Amee

Wow, everyone's Borders or B&N bargain sections are way better than the ones in my area. Great haul!

  • Yan

I need NEED! and Wondrous Strange! I’m currently ah-ing and oh-ing on some your books…

  • Trish Milburn

I’m so happy you’re looking forward to Heartbreak River. I really hope you enjoy it.

Oh, and I LOVED the Mediator series. I saw Meg give a keynote address at a conference a couple of years back, and she was hilarious.

    Trish (aka Tricia Mills)

  • Mrs. Magoo

Have you read Likely Story? I’m pretty sure Levithan contributed to it.

  • Bookworm

Lucky! Wow…all those great books for GREAT prices…I need to visit your local B&N!

  • rimasbookjournal

    Lucky! I wish I had a B&N where I live!(:
    Great books!
I tried reading Levithan's Realm of Possiblty [i loved the name of the book] but I couldn't finish it.. maybe because I had to return to the library since it was due.

  • Hope.

If I don’t get a copy of Cracked Up To Be soon. . . I don’t what I’ll do, but it won’t be good, lol. And Heartbreak River looks wonderful. :]

    hope.

    I wish I lived by a B&N!!

    Great Choices. I'm jealous..

  • jocelyn

After-holiday sales are a weakness of mine, too. Luckily I was able to resist (mostly) this year. But you got some awesome deals!

Nice list!! I have the same problem you do. I really am addicted to books, but I think it’s better then being addicted to something else! lol

I bought If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where is My Prince? just currently at Barnes and Noble. I can’t wait to read it! I hope you enjoy it.

  • Mitzy

    oo Heartbreak River looks good!!

  • carmen alexis

    Awesome books!
I’m actually going through this Meg Cabot phase. haha. I’m going to read the Princess Diaries series and the Mediator series as well. =)

  • Tay-Toe

The first time I read Levithan was Nick&Nora so does it really count? Oh, but I really loved The Realm Of Possibility. I really cannot hate The Mortal Instrument series, and I think that I just got City Of Bones last week. You, Maybe is really good. I found one of Vail's other books If We Kiss like two years ago. A wondrous find, I think. *sighs dreamily* All of those books sound fantastic.

    H&C,
    Tay-Toe
