Twilight Movie!!

Okay, so I just got back from the midnight showing of TWILIGHT!!!! It’s just after 2:30 and I’m ready for bed so this will be brief. It’s been a long night. Chelcea and I hit Steak’n’Shake up at about 8:00 and were out of there by 8:45, so of course we had to hit up Starbucks to get our caffeine high going. Hung out there for a half an hour or so and then we headed over to the theater at about 9:30. We were numbers 9 & 10 in line! Very exciting. Waiting in line was very boring, but fortunately I was able to finish Vidalia in Paris and meet some other cool fans. I can’t believe I forgot my camera….. anyway to the movie!

Let’s answer the one question everyone is thinking… “Was it as good as the book?” Answer: No. Did you expect it to be. I know that I didn’t. Movies are rarely better than their written counterparts. But did I enjoy it? OF COURSE I DID! And I think fans of the book will be fans of the movie, despite obvious differences in the plot. It’s definitely something that people who haven’t read the books can enjoy too. I laughed A LOT! It was funnier than I thought it would be…. It wasn’t perfect by any means, but it was really good! I was so excited that I finally got to see the story come to life! I can’t wait to hear what you guys think!

And how about them humans, they’re darn funny weren’t they! “What up, Arizona!”

I’ll be seeing the movie again later on today, actually at the 9:55 pm showing. Chelcea and I are going to see it again along with our other sister Laci and some friends. I’ll try to remember my camera this time. I think I like the soundtrack better now that I’ve seen the movie…. anyone else feel that way?

    Sounds exciting!

I’m not a fan of Twilight, and I predicted that the movie might not be as good as the book. It’s great that you enjoyed it and now I want to watch it!

Did you like the actors and their skillz? O:

  • The Story Siren

you know that actors were good. i thought i would have a problem with edward being played by rob, but i really liked him! i think i had a bigger problem with kristen playing bella. she did a good job, but….. i’ll just say i think she could have been better.

  • Angiegirl

Grin. Thanks for the early update! I’m seeing it tomorrow night. From your comments, I think I’ll enjoy it.

Yeah, I laughed a lot, too. Which normally is a good thing except that I was laughing at parts that I didn’t think I should be laughing … and the whole audience was laughing too, so it wasn’t just me.

I loved the movie. I was happy, when they mentioned Kitsap County, because I live there. I also love Jasper like a million times more. Alice was also adorable. I LOVED the ending.
I also had a fangirl moment, because someone I know was an extra and she was on there for a minute or two. =)

The movie is funny? That’s nice to hear, I wasn’t expecting that! Movie adaptations are rarely as good or better than the book but I always have to see them anyways! I love seeing it come to life too!

I loved the movie, but I am a massive twilightaholic. I hope the critics like it as I want to see New Moon come to life.

That’s good you liked it. I’m going to the 4:30 showing today hopefully there won’t be as big crowd since most people go at night. You actually confirmed kinda what I was feeling about Kristen as Bella. I was really excited about her until I saw the commercials the way she spoke and acted was weird, I didn’t get it. And to think I was so worried about Pattinson. Oh well atleast Kristen’s pretty to look at. I’m sure i’ll definitely still enjoy it.

    I’m going at 2pm today–can’t wait!

  • The Story Siren

Speedreader- I had a very similar experience.

Yours is the very first fan review I’ve read and it sounds like most fans will probably agree with you: both movie and book are great but simply not the same. I think, honestly, that’s the best you can hope for!

There was lots of laughing in our theater too and, again, I’m not sure it was really SUPPOSED to be funny…….

I was very apprehensive about Rob as Edward but after seeing clips of the movie before it came out he grew on me and after seeing the movie I really felt he was as good an Edward that they would be able to find.

I never really cared much for Bella in the books so I think that helped me like Kristen as Bella a little more.

    Overall an enjoyable movie.

Chelcea here, I just wanted to say that I LOVED the movie and can’t wait to see it again tonight!!

    I agree with you 100%.

and it may be just as well that you forgot your camera–we were told several years ago that if we tried to take pics in the lobby or anywhere else in the theater during my sister’s bachelorette party (we went to see The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants), we’d be escorted out. (they said the policy has to do with the copyrighted materials ubiquitous in every movie theater.)

    You liked the movie?
    O.O
    *faint*

It was horrendous, and I walked in with low expectations.
And was still shocked at the crappiness.

Oh well. At least you enjoyed it ;)

  • Zoealea

I’m going to go see it tomorrow, I can’t wait to see it!

I thought the movie was better than the book if for no other reason that I didn’t have to read/listen to Bella’s insufferable whining for two hours. That alone made it better.

Kristen was a little on the twitchy side and Rob needed to tone down on the eyeball acting (and the dead wombat on his head) but it could have been worse. Rosalie kicks ass and I just wanted to give poor Jasper a laxative. Overall, definitely better than the book.
