Breaking Dawn Cover!

Saturday, May 31, 2008
All you Twilight fans, here is a picture of the final book in the series, Breaking Dawn. Looks like possibly some symbolism in play! Guess we'll just have to wait and see! Also the Special Edition of Eclipse is officially released today. It has of course the cover to Breaking Dawn, the first chapter of Breaking Dawn and some iron-on t-shirt transfers!

Hope you are having a great weekend! Don't forget to sign up for the copy of Prom by Laurie Halse Anderson!! Tonight is the deadline for the Monthly Contest!! I will be announcing the winner tomorrow! Good luck!

I think it means that the white one is the main girl character and the red one in the backround is the vampire ? IDK

I really like the cover. I think there is a lot of symbolism to it,but for the life of me, I can't figure it out yet.

Lots of symbolism at work here.

Don't think it really fits with the others books, though. They're more natural, organic (even the ribbon one) and this one is very man-made.

It really is different, isn't it?
I personally like the others better but I am sure this is for symbolistic purposes.

I like this one pretty well - the colors are used nicely, and it seems like it will mean more than that terrible cover to New Moon.

I can see a lot of obvious symbolism, but I don't really want to project anything onto it before reading the book.

I think it's absolutely gorgeous...and it could also mean SO much...! I can't wait to find out.

Aw, I was hoping I'd already commented on this to get the extra entries for the Twilight series contest. Oh well. Anyway, I love the cover! I love that they're keeping with the black/white/red theme throughout the series. :)

Hmm, honestly, I don't really understand the cover yet. My guess is that it has to do with Bella's move as if her life was now a game. I don't know. But I'm curious as to the chess piece. Can't wait to read the book! =)

I think that the red pawn is bella and the white queen bella as a vampire.

Just a wild guess lol.

this is a tough cover to figure out. chess is kind of a game of chance, so maybe Bella has to take a chance on something important. following her gut to make the right decision.

i'm not sure though. i'm excited for it!!!

Its dramatic - similar to the first cover. The third cover, you could kinda guess what it symbolized but this one completly leaves you hanging. I cannot wait for the book, and seeing this sover just makes it that much harder to wait!

I am glad that the color scheme is the same.
Chess is a GAME of STRATEGY...maybe that is a clue for what is coming.
Also, I can see Bella coming out on top, like a QUEEN.

I get the entire chess analogy, but it is not my favorite cover. Maybe because the others were more abstract and this is so obvious in its reference, not sure...but I do know I cannot WAIT for the book!!!!

I love it. A pawn is weak and insignificant (like Bella?) but if she makes it through all the challenges, she becomes a queen and is the most powerful piece in the game. Is that what Stephenie is saying?

I agree that the cover doesn't seem to mesh with the other three as well as it could, but as a stand-alone, I like that there is obviously symbolism goin' on and that the author was able to participate in the decision.

I like the cover. I think Bella is obviously the queen. And she always has some danger lurking in the background trying to take her out of the game. This time I think the pawn is probably Jacob because he never wanted her to 'play' vampire.

I LOVE the cover. There seems to be a deep meaning to the cover. I am excited to learn the meaning behind it. I believe I am going to frame the Special Ed. Eclipse cover! LOL!

I like the cover, but I don't think it really matches the other covers...they have a more old school fairy tale feel, but this is just kind of out of nowhere....

To tell you the truth when I first saw the cover I hated it! I thought that it was too busy and had nothing to do with the story. But after looking it over and thinking about the other books I began to realize what It might suggest. In my opinion it is ment to symbolize a strategy that takes lots of concentration and much observation from both sides in order for one to win. The two sides of course would have to be good and evil but in this case I think its more about right and wrong. I think the cover is trying to give the illusion of Bella’s chooses and which it is that is right and which is wrong. Now this could be whether or not to become a vampire or it could be whether or not to take the right path after becoming a vampire (right path being feeding on animals as the Cullens do- and wrong being feeding on humans like Victoria and James) or it could just me the choses she is going to have to make about the people that she is going to have to leave behind such as family and especially Jacob. This is my take on the cover I may be right but most likely I’m going to be wrong lol but at least from the information given in the other books this is the conclusion I’ve come up with lol

It's a nice cover, but doesn't seem to match with the previous three. With one central object and black space everywhere.I'm really curious as to why she puts chess pieces though. A symbol for strategy maybe?

I absolutely ADORE the Breaking Dawn cover! It's not what I expected, but I loved it from the beginning, and I love how it seems even more symbolic than the others. :P

Breaking Dawn’s cover would have to be my second most favorite of the Twilight series after Twilight of course. The cover is very striking and almost in your face, presenting itself boldly. What’s the most unusual thing about the cover are the chess pieces because in the game of chess, the pawn can turn into a queen. I think that’s a major symbol but am not quite sure on who or what the queen and pawn stands for. Maybe after reading Breaking Dawn, it becomes clearer.

I hated the cover with a passion once it first came out but over time got to like it. I like how it's the same color scheme throughout all 4 books with the red and white. I don't like how the cover artist tries to make it symbolic by using chess pieces, it seems forceful and makes everyone try to interpret. It could be just me though.

I really loved the cover to be quite honest. Artistically speaking, it has a boldness and strength in the main chess piece. The colors are used nicely, and there is a great emphasis on the dominance of the queen. It's great because there are so many interpretations--I've heard theorys that say the queen represents Edward's hold on Bella--cold, white, and dominant--while the pawn represents Jacob's hold--less powerful, less dominant, and red (to represent blood and humanity). The cover is really fascinating and can be dissected so many ways. Very fitting for a final book.

I like the cover, it's very beautiful but it reminds me of a lot of the art i've seen on deviantart, so i can't really say it's extremely creative because i have seen it done before, but that doesn't mean i'm gonna get less excited about the release of the book!!!! : )

I think this cover looks so interesting! It must indicate some sort of change taking place (from the hidden red pawn to the white porcelain queen). I really can't wait for the book!!!
